The First World War ended 100 years ago with the Compiègne Armistice Agreement. On this occasion, the 3rd Brunch & Lunch Concert is dedicated to the rarely played composers Rudi Stephan, André Caplet and Lucien Durosoir. Rudi Stephan, the German composer hope of the time, died in 1915 as a soldier at the front in Galicia. André Caplet was also at war on the French side as a soldier. He survived, but died in 1925 of the consequences of a pleurisy, which he had contracted through gas poisoning during the war. Lucien Durosoir, a successful violinist until the outbreak of the war, turned to composing after the war. As a soldier he played together with Caplet for the soldiers in the field and in the military hospital. The concert will be performed by Julie Palloc (Harp), Ann-Katrin Stöcker (Piano), Michael Salm and Daniel Kagerer (Violins), Sebastian Eyb (Viola), Alexander Gropper (Cello), Ruslan Lutsyk (Double-bass) and the speaker Isabelle Menke, who will read from letters written by the composers.

A wide variety of ensemble formations consisting of members of the Philharmonia Zurich will again be presenting works of chamber music in our informal, intimate Brunch & Lunch concert series this season. Together with the musicians, discover forgotten gems, unusual arrangements of well-known works, and embark upon extraordinary auditive adventures.

Brunch concerts begin at 11.15 a.m. on Sundays, followed by brunch at the Restaurant Belcanto. Concert and brunch cost CHF 6O including a welcome glass of champagne (students: CHF 52 / children 16 and under: CHF 32).

Lunch concerts – featuring the same programme – are repeated the following day at 12.OO noon, and do not include a culinary option. Tickets: CHF 2O (students: CHF 18).
