Introductory matinee «L'incoronazione di Poppea»
Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea, created over 350 years ago, is one of the first ever operas and a highlight of its genre history. On the 24th of June, this magnificent work premieres at the Zurich Opera House under the direction of Calixto Bieito. Already two weeks before the première you have the opportunity to gain first impressions of this new production, when the team presents its view on Monteverdi's opera. Conductor Ottavio Dantone and stage designer Rebecca Ringst, as well as singers from our Poppea ensemble will be there alongside Calixto Bieito.
We offer introductory matinees to every new production: during discussions with representatives of the Dramaturgy department, conductors, directors, set and costume designers will explain their view of the works. On a Sunday morning two weeks before the première, (one week in the case of ballet), you will thus receive direct insights into the special features of the production in question.
